It’s Plan B for Swans In Flight...

Plan B Cassell

One of the UK’s hottest current songwriting teams, (famed for their work with chart sensation, Plan B, and including Ivor Novello Award winning, Cassell, AKA ‘The BeatMaker’), have confirmed they will be producing the British rock band, Swans In Flight, and their forthcoming commercial release due out Spring 2012. In the Producer’s chair at John Delf’s, Edge Studios, Cassell will be joined by Guild Award winning/fellow Plan B member, Eric Appapoulay.

“I recently got the chance to hear the song, ‘123’, taken from the Swans In Flight’s self-titled ‘acoustic’ album and liked what I heard. I shared it with the rest of my Sony Publishing/Plan B songwriting team and we all agreed this was something we really wanted to do. I’m excited to be involved with this band”, states Cassell who is also a member of, The Streets.

Swan’s In Flight studio alliance with Cassell and the Plan B team is set to produce a fascinating amalgam of styles and textures which will draw on both the classic and the new. Swans in Flight frontman, Hugo Montgomery-Swan, revealed that both he and Cassell share a common love for melody, “Above all, everyone loves a good tune and it doesn’t matter whether you’re talking Metal or Rap – everyone’s ears are tuned to the ‘hook’. Therefore, Cassell and I and all the guys involved in this project, will be going for the song every time...”

Swans In Flight are currently being booked to perform mainstage festival performances for 2012 plus a select number of theatre shows next March that will feature Metal Funk bassist, TM Stevens, (Joe Cocker, James Brown, Steve Vai), in the band’s line-up.

News Highlights

RIBFEST 2010 saw ‘The Swans’ performing on the same main stage bill when they performed as Special Guest to Seth Lakeman – delivering a knock-out performance that warmed the cockles of the festival goers amid the May chilly evening air. November 2010 saw the band feature Marco Mendoza in a special show at London Olympia. Marco is well known for his work with Thin Lizzy, Whitesnake, John Sykes and Neil Schon. The gig was a stunning success. ‘2011 then saw ‘The Swans’ also played a red hot set with ‘bass ace’ TM Stevens (Steve Vai, Tina Turner, The Pretenders,) on the main stage of The London Bass Guitar Show. Performing to a capacity audience, the band played a show stopping set with some 2000 people in attendance at LBGS. Following a run of live radio sessions, the band went on to play a number of summer festivals including special acoustic sets for the Burnham Folk Fest and the Acoustic Festival of Britain in May alongside Hayseed Dixie – the masters of high energy bluegrass. Other festivals included the playing mainstage slots at RIBFEST and the Cambridge Rock Festival. 2011 also saw Swans In Flight perform as Special Guests to the legendary, Doctor Feelgood on the Isle of Wight and they then enjoyed the same billing when they rocked the 2000 capacity crowd at The Regal Theatre, Ipswich for Thin Lizzy. Others shows included playing the Sheffield 02 and a closing home-coming gig at the Kentisbeare Hall is scheduled for this December. At this present time, Swans in Flight are busy recording brand new material due for worldwide release in early 2012.
